I doubt you need me to emphasise the importance of a good nights sleep but just to say the importance of your new mattress should not be underestimated and is potentially a large factor in your general health. This is where we take our resposibilities very seriously and is the main reason for the added information, as follows. 1 . SPRING UNITS. Spring units generally fall into the two catagories of open coil spring units which are manufactured in varying types of whole units which are linked together and pocket sprung where the springs are not linked but sewn into their own individual pockets therefore moving and reacting independantly. The open coil spring units in the Bolero, Rosedale and Valetta mattresses are, unlike some other bed manufacturers, actually made by Sleepvendor themselves. These open coil spring units house around 325 springs (in the 4'-6" size) with a heavy steel rod edge support around the perimeter. Sleepvendor bring these units up to very high temperatures, not once but twice. The significance of this is that spring units are made of metal wire which on its own would fail to retain its own shape. The effect of this process is that the spring unit is entirely strengthened allowing it to remember its shape almost indefinately. The open coil spring units in the Hanover and Viscount mattresses contain the Sleepzone spring system, by Sweet Dreams. These spring units contain 520 springs (in the 4'-6" size) giving an extra concentrated and defined support and are closer together in the centre of the mattress giving extra density in the area most needed. The wires that link the spring unit together run the length of the mattress, as opposed to the width, helping to eliminate roll together, even if one partner is considerably heavier than the other. The level of firmness in an open coil spring unit is in part due to the thickness of the wire used. The thicker the wire the more resistance and is usually measured in gauge form. For example a 13.5 gauge has a medium resistance while 12.5 gauge has a firm resistance and is usually classified as orthopaedic. As earlier mentioned the springs in a pocket sprung mattress are not linked and manufactured as one whole unit but sewn into their own individual pockets, therefore each spring working independantly as in the Eternity, Ortho Cool, Serenity and Ultra Health mattresses. This is a much more traditional method of manufacture and many beleive to be the best. The spring count varies from 620 (in the 4'-6" size) in the Ortho Cool mattress to 1600 in the Ultra Health. That is not to say the Ortho Cool is vastly inferior to the Ultra Health for example, as the Ortho Cool would be a more than adequate firm and comfortable long lasting mattress. 2 . THE FILLINGS . Just as, if not more important than the spring unit are the fillings in any mattress, which is the comfort layer between you and the spring unit . There are various layers of luxuriuos man made fillings in the Hanover, Rosedale, Valletta and Viscount mattresses, varying in density and firmness and are all of the highest standards and resistant to seperation. Very often when fillings absorb moisture and seperate over time the springs are blamed when the mattress becomes uncomfortable when it is in fact the fillings which have failed. Many are Anti or Hypo Allergenic making them ideal for asthma and allergy sufferers because the microscopic nasties that cause such allergies cannot thrive in these areas. Memory foam is no longer a new idea and has been used in mattresses for a number of years and to the best of my knowledge is yet to fail. We beleive as a mattress filling Memory Foam cannot be overated. Incredibly Memory Foam, or sometimes called Visco Elastic, was originally created by NASA to help reduce the consequences of impact. The molecules that make up Memory Foam react and reform according to your body temperature therefore moulding near perfectly to your body shape cushioning your weight and presssure points evenly allowing improved blood circulation and vitally reducing sleep disturbance caused by interupted blood ciculation. 3 . THE FABRIC COVER . The fabric cover also plays an important part in the overall comfort and benefits of your new mattress. Some have high quality cotton and Belgium damask as in the Hanover, Rosedale, Valletta and Viscount mattresses. The Cool Plus fabric on the Cool Comfort Memory Foam mattress not only has a beautifully soft surface feel but helps keep you blissfully cool when needed and is also hypo allergenic, ideal for asthma and allergy sufferers. Also ideal for allergy sufferers and similar to the Cool Plus is the Cool Max fabric on the Ortho Cool mattress. Cool Max fabric, made from Dacron is fast drying allowing moisture to evaporate rapidly. The No Stress knitted fabric cover on the Serenity mattress contains minute carbon threads which are clinically proven to conduct static away from your body which helps your body to relax, while the wonderful soft and cool Bamboo yarn on the Eternity mattress is highly resistent to pests and fungi and generates negative ions having a positive effect on blood circulation. To conclude and not to be underestimated is the Bolero Memory Foam mattress, incredibly covered in sumptious Cashmere Wool which has its own natural anti allergy benefits and a luxuriously soft surface feel.
